Yes, it’s happening, and we can’t keep calm!!! Finally, Hera Pheri 3 is being made with its original star cast of Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal.
The Hera Pheri series has a cult following in India. It is likely that you live under a rock if you aren’t familiar with “Ye Babu Rao ka style hai”, “Zor zor se bolke sabko scheme bata de”, and “Paisa hi paisa hoga”, among many other exemplary dialogues from the movie that are circulated every day on social media as memes, gifs, and stickers.
Interestingly the third part of the superhit comedy series Hera Pheri won’t be called Hera Pheri 3, It will be named Hera Pheri 4. While this might confuse you now, the makers promise this change of name is relevant to the storyline, and the audience will understand the reason for this change after they see the film.
Release Date 2023
The megahit trio of Paresh Rawal, Suniel Shetty, and Akshay Kumar came together to shoot for the first-ever promo of Hera Pheri 4. When the pictures of that shoot went viral, it sent the fans into a frenzy. The audience went crazy with a hint of nostalgia and restlessness on seeing Baburao in his iconic dhoti-kurta, Ghanshyam in a dark shirt and sunglasses, and Raju in his printed shirt and pink pants. We can only imagine this feeling of restlessness growing tenfold after the promo is released in a few weeks.
However, shooting for the movie hasn’t begun yet and won’t begin anytime soon as the leading ladies have yet to be finalized and the film’s script is in the editing phase as of now.
Someone from the film unit revealed to the Hindustan Times that, “The stars are back and they shot for an announcement promo for the movie. It confirms the fact that the original trio of Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal are back. The promo will also put to rest all speculations about other actors being cast in the film. The film’s script is underway, and the shoot for the film will begin much later”
Starcast
We don’t have much information about the cast of the movie. Female leads opposite the trio are yet to be cast, along with other supporting roles. Nonetheless, if reports are to be believed Hera Pheri 4 might star Sanjay Dutt, Sanjay Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Rajpal Yadav, and Ravi Kishan. Well, these are just speculations, and nothing can be said with surety until the makers make any official announcements.
The only sure-shot star cast, as of now, includes:
- Akshay Kumar in the role of Raju
- Paresh Rawal in the role of Babu Rao urf Babu Bhaiya
- Suniel Shetty in the role of Ghanshyam.
As long as we have our classic trio on board, we are good to go!!

Story
Raju, Ghanshyam, and Babu Bhaiya’s Hera Pheri universe is all set to welcome another addition to the franchise. Let us look at the story of its latest edition:
Hera Pheri (2000), directed by Priyadarshan, was a rags-to-riches story of a poor landlord, Babu Bhaiya, and his two tenants, Raju and Ghanshyam.
Phir Hera Pheri (2006), directed by Neeraj Vora, picked up the story from where the first part ended but this time, it showed how the trio, in their quest for more wealth and greed, went from riches to rags.
The story isn’t finalized as of now, and the script is still in the editing phase. We are sure of the fact that Hera Pheri 4 will carry forward the story of Phir Hera Pheri just as it did with the first part, that is, Hera Pheri.
Controversy
Since the time reports of Hera Pheri 4 being made started doing the rounds, we witnessed many controversies surrounding the movie.
The initial one was Akshay Kumar dropping out of the project because of his creative differences with the producer Sajid Nadiadwala regarding the script and the makers choosing Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, star Kartik Aaryan for filling Akshay’s shoes. But Suniel Shetty put an end to these rumors of Kartik replacing Akshay in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, he said, “There are speculations that Kartik replaced Akshay. See, Akshay cannot be replaced. The makers are in talks with Kartik for a completely different character. So, there’s no argument.”
However, the news of Raju being absent from the Hera Pheri universe in the next part didn’t go well with the audience, and they made it known to the makers by creating hashtags and tweeting about the same, making it a trend on social media every other day.
As they say, the audience is the king, and when the king speaks you have no choice but to obey! So, Akshay and Sajid decided to solve their differences in order to do justice to this megahit franchise and the audience. Akshay finally came on board, and we have the OG trio back!!
As this controversy died down, another controversy erupted! The audience isn’t happy with the decision of Farhad Samji to direct the film! Angry fans went as far as creating a petition on Change.org with the following description:
“Clearly as the title suggests we do not want Farhad Samji directing a classic film franchise such as Hera Pheri. His track record or previous films directed has not been satisfying for which the film Phir Hera Pheri needs a replacement.”
With close to 200 people already signing the petition, audiences have made it very clear that they won’t let anyone ruin the legacy of Hera Pheri and will go to any lengths to save the film.
Proving that they are the true fans of the Hera Pheri franchise because the moment anything happens that threatens the legacy of Hera Pheri they get into the Babu Rao zone of ‘Bilkul risks nai lene ka’.
